The Australasian College of Hahnemannian Homoeopathy (commonly referred to as ACHH) is a distance education College teaching a professionally accredited course in homoeopathic medicine. Dr Isaac Golden, the founder and Principal of the College, along with the registrar and Health Sciences lecturer Anita DiStasio, are responsible for providing quality, relevant adult learning opportunities.
As a registered training organisation, ACHH is registered to provide an Advanced Diploma in Homoeopathy.
ACHH recognises that adult education is a need and right for all adults. It exists with a primary commitment to fair access and equity in the provision of its program of courses, irrespective of gender, culture, age, location, disability or disadvantage.
Accidents or injuries, no matter how small, need to be reported immediately. An accident report book is housed in the main office for this purpose.
Tea and coffee are provided for course students at the head office. Please ensure that the kitchenette is left clean and tidy after your break.
To ensure the safety of all, chairs need their four legs on the floor at all times.

Students who visit the head office have available for their use:
Quiet space for study and small group meetings
Texts, videos and other course related material
Computers on site with internet access
Notebook computers for use off site
Photocopying and printing of course related material
First aid kits are housed in the main office and contain items to enable basic first aid to be carried out. Medication including headache pills will not be given to course students.
Most classes are held in rented facilities in the cities where the classes are held. Some classes may be held at the College's head office at Gap Rd, Gisborne.
Administrative staff are available from 9.00 am until 5.00 pm from Monday to Friday. Tutorial assignments may be posted or emailed to the College office.
All day parking is available at Gap Rd, Gisborne.
Student feedback
Students will be asked to complete satisfaction surveys on course completion. These are important documents as the feedback received is acted upon.
Public holidays
ACHH is closed on public holidays.
Course students are covered by our public liability insurance.
Each room has a floor plan and fire orders.
All classes operate in a smoke-free environment.
The College staff have many years' experience in the education field and can assist students with matters relating to their course. They also have available information on appropriate other personnel who may be approached for support and assistance.
Toilets are located on the top floor of the College.
ACHH offers one accredited course, and a number of non-accredited introductory courses. It is advisable to contact staff who can assist you determine if a course will suit your needs.
Students are selected for courses by demonstrating a genuine interest in the area and a determination to complete the course.
Enrolment and induction
Information on course content and other relevant information is available to potential students prior to enrolment. Prospectuses and Student Information Booklets are available upon request, or on the web at www.homstudy.net/i_golden/.
The staff will refer to information contained in the Student Information Booklets. Staff will also show students amenities and facilities which are available as well as assist with any queries.
Grievances and complaints
ACHH will ensure that students receive accurate information about:
All students will be given reasonable and fair time and information on changes in the advertised times, venues, tutors and course content, competencies and assessment procedures.
If a student feels these statements have not been achieved, he/she may lodge a complaint:
Step 1. Student fills out a Grievance and Complaint Form, available from the College.
Step 2. The Principal will interview the student on the specific nature and circumstances of the grievance. The outcome, which should exhibit flexibility, respect for the individual/s involved and organisational integrity, will be recorded.
Step 3. If the grievance cannot be resolved at Step 2 or if the student wishes to appeal the outcome, an independent adjudicator will meet with the student to resolve the grievance. The student will have the opportunity to formally present his/her case and will be given a written statement of the outcome, including reasons for the decision.
Step 4. If the student is not satisfied with the outcome, the Principal will refer him/her to the education and training authority responsible for the particular course.
Students in accredited courses are required to undertake a range of assessment tasks in order to display competence. Individual homoeopathic tutorials are graded out of 100. The teachers will have an assessment grid and outcome sheet to record results:

Tutorial Assignments are one method used to assess competence. Tutorials may be mailed or e-mailed to the College. Assignments handed in to reception will be dated and signed by the staff member receiving them.
Penalties will apply if plagiarism is detected in assignments.
A student who is dissatisfied with an assessment result, may appeal the decision. To appeal, the following steps occur:
Certificates are issued by the Records Officer on completion of accredited courses. Statements of attainment are issued on successful completion of accredited units. For non accredited courses, certificates of completion may be issued if the student has completed all required work.
All students at ACHH have the rights of adults as learners in a mature age relationship between teachers and other learners and as a consumer of a high quality commercial product. As such, adult learners have both rights and responsibilities.
Students can expect that they:
will receive high quality customer service from staff and high quality teaching from tutors
will be treated with respect as adults by tutors and other course students
have access to a proper process for the resolution of grievances if dissatisfied with any aspects of the administration or teaching of the course
have the right to a course refund in accordance with the fees and charges policy.
Students have a responsibility to:
pay enrolment and Health Science unit fees on enrolment, as well as Tutorial fees when Tutorials are submitted.
respect the rights of other course students to a pleasant, mature and undisturbed (including mobile phones) learning environment
care for the facilities and property involved in the provision of the course
All students are expected to pay enrolment fees on enrolment.
No course or module charges or tutorial fees are levied in advance for more than 10 weeks of scheduled study.
Students pay for the homoeopathic tutorials in the Advanced Diploma course when tutorials are submitted over the duration of the course. Students pay for Health Science modules in advance. Conditions apply as follows:

ACHH acknowledges that all vocational education and training includes language, literacy and numeracy tasks. Our lecturers provide materials, resources and assessment tasks at a level of complexity required in the workplace for that competency only. Lecturers also provide opportunities for repeated and supported practice.
Students will be charged a fee to cover materials and amenities where indicated. The advertised course fee will be inclusive of the materials and amenities charge.
Qualifications issued by ACHH will be nationally recognised. ACHH recognises the AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by any other registered training organisation.
ACHH recognises that students may be able to demonstrate some or all of the defined competencies of the course for which they have enrolled. This competency may have been gained through previous learning, through work and life experiences, through employment experience and/or previous formal education and training.
ACHH endorses the policy of formally recognising and giving credit for the satisfactory demonstration of specific competencies in those modules through credit transfer, completion of assessment tasks or RPL/RCC.
If a student applies for RPL/RCC, charges may apply.
Plagiarism is a form of cheating. To ensure you do not plagiarise someone else's work, you must declare the sources from which you derived material or ideas. The penalties for plagiarism are severe and may result in a fail grade being awarded.

Students must complete supervised clinical training as required by accrediting bodies. Three options exist:
Students must confirm in writing with the Principal before undertaking training under options 2 and 3, that their proposed training is acceptable to ACHH.
Information privacy is important. ACHH staff request personal information from students in our courses. The information collected and stored includes:
Name and address
Employment status
Education achievement
ACHH will use a student's name and address for communication purposes. This may be to send information about your current course, other courses which we offer or to send out certificates or invoices. Occasionally, your name and address will be used to request information about our own customer service or to gain feedback about other areas of our business.
ACHH understands that privacy is a right and staff endeavours to respect that right.
Refunds will be made in full if ACHH has to cancel a course. Refunds will be made by cheque. ACHH is not responsible for changes in a student's circumstances. Courses need to be chosen carefully as no refunds will be made if the student chooses to discontinue his/her studies.
If exceptional circumstances occur, a written application for a partial refund may be made. This application must reach reception within five working days after course commencement. Refunds will be at the discretion of ACHH. All refunds will be made by cheque.

Misplaced certificates can be reissued on request. A cost of $30 will be charged.

Objective:
ACHH will recognise AQF qualifications and Statements of Attainments awarded by other Registered Training Organisations.
Scope:

Procedures:
The Principal of ACHH will include in the company Code of Practice document (Q.DOC.COP.02) a statement recognising the AQF qualifications and/or Statement of Attainments awarded and issued by other RTO's
The Principal develops a Recognition of Prior Learning document (Q.DOC.RPL.02) for implementation by company assessors/trainers
The Principal informs relevant company personnel of this mutual recognition obligation and the processes to be adopted via staff information sessions, newsletters, memorandums or other modes of communication
The Principal will include the RPL and Code of Practice documents in any marketing material forwarded to clients, and outline the options for RPL and the process by which trainees may apply for credit based on AQF qualifications or Statements of Attainment awarded by another RTO
Upon student submission of certificates, RPL forms or evidence for mutual recognition purposes, a copy of the evidence or transcript qualification is placed on the student file for recognition and audit purposes
In addition to placing the application or transcript on individual student files, copies of all RPL applications are also filed separately for reporting purposes
Trainers/assessors document that credit has been awarded in certain competencies on student Training Plans (Q.DOC.TP.02) under the Assessment Details section or applicable heading.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
Objective:
That all students are offered the opportunity to apply for RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) or RCC (Recognition of Core Competencies) on enrolment.
Scope:
All ACHH training and assessment operations.
Procedure:
The Principal will develop a RPL/RCC document (Q.Doc.RPL.02) to be used as a tool to determine whether a student can be awarded recognition of prior learning/competencies
The Principal will include this document in any marketing material that is forwarded to clients
Details of the RPL/RCC process are detailed to clients by the Principal or assessors with a request that all evidence (transcripts etc) be attached to the completed RPL form for company consideration
To assist in this process, and to minimise the time involved by clients/students in completing the documentation, a sample completed RPL form and attachments indicating a wide range of evidence is provided to the client, together with a flowchart (RPLF.02)
Once an assessment has been made, the Principal forwards a letter to the client informing of the assessment outcome. If the application has not been supported, the reasons for the decision are to be detailed in this correspondence ( Q.Doc.RPLL.02)
