A.C.H.H. ADVANCED DIPLOMA IN HOMOEOPATHY

The Australasian College of Hahnemannian Homoeopathy now offers as its professionally accredited course, an Advanced Diploma in Homoeopathy. This course has achieved RTO status (No. 21555), and is AUSTUDY accredited (NOo.3P408).

Background to the Changes

The Australasian College of Hahnemannian Homoeopathy was founded in 1989 by Dr Isaac Golden to fill a gap in what was available in distant education in Homoeopathy at that time. There were no correspondence courses teaching to the standards of the then Australian Federation of Homoeopaths

The course was written in a style quite different to correspondence courses of the day, and is still quite different to most courses. Students were given certain texts, directed to others, and given relatively few notes. The students were, and are, required to prepare and submit their own notes that are then assessed and marked. Thus every Tutorial is in effect an exam, and because students prepare the material themselves the level of learning is much greater.

The course was written, in terms of hours, to an Advanced Diploma standard, and has been upgraded over the years as changes have occurred in AFH and AHA requirements. However in 1989 most courses were simply titled "Diploma in Homoeopathy", as was this course. The titled was never changed. Thus in 2004 the decision was made to formally offer an "Advanced Diploma in Homoeopathy", and to apply for Government accreditation and Austudy accreditation. The fact that there were relatively few additions to the existing Diploma in Homoeopathy course indicates the high standard already existing in the Diploma course.

The Diploma course has always been ATMS accredited, but due to the policy adopted by AHA concerning correspondence courses, was never AHA accredited. However AHA standards were always the benchmark for the content of this course, thus the course has exceeded the standard required by ATMS.

The Advanced Diploma in Homoeopathy offered by this College sets the standard for other correspondence courses.

Health Sciences

Early Graduates were all people who had existing qualifications in Health Sciences, such as accredited Naturopaths, Herbalists, SRN's, and Doctors. In 1996 the College began offering its own Health Sciences through accredited courses written by Dr David Keightley. These courses are run by Anita Di Stasio (B.H.Sc., N.D., S.R.N), who is also the College Registrar (and Isaac's wife). This offers some students choice in the Health Sciences they undertake.
